Having hit a gamerscore of 10,000, I thought I’d celebrate by showing you how to boost yours.
Here’s five easy ways to boost your gamerscore, including a little trick to earn 1,000G in two minutes.
I was playing Fallout 3 the other night when I reached the 10,000G gamerscore milestone.
It felt good but I hadn’t really thought about easy ways of boosting it before. Considering it’s taken me two years to come this far, could I have got a better score if I’d tried harder?
I know a gamerscore offers nothing more than bragging rights and extra challenges, but for all the gamerscore whores out there, ‘Unlocked Achievement’ is a way of life (you know who you are)!
So to celebrate my 10,000G gamerscore and to aid the whores, here’s five easy ways to boost your gamerscore:
1. Rent a game
Most people spend a lot of money on new games, when they could be multiplying their gamerscore by ten. Sure you might have to play some crap games, but it’ll be worth it in the end right?
Rather than spending £40 on a new game, rent a game for a couple of nights, unlock most of its gamerpoints then return it. Simple.
Recommended games:
· Blitz NHL 2K6 (1,000G in two hours)
· King Kong (1,000G in eight hours)
· Fight Night: Round 3 (1,000G in six hours)
· FIFA World Cup 2006 (750G in three hours)
· Madden NFL 2006 (350G in 15 minutes – one match)
As you can see, sports games and kids games are a good choice for achievement whores.
Result: Gamerscore x10 (£4 a game instead of £40 a game)
2. Book a week off work
Time is money when it comes to unlocking Xbox 360 achievements. The more time you put in, the more points you’ll unlock.
So make some time! Book a week off work, pull a sicky and do what you have to do. Word of advice – get a good couple of games before doing this.
Result: around 1,000G – 3,000G
3. Download some Xbox Live Arcade games
There are hundreds of games to download on Xbox Live with easy gamerpoints to obtain – plus most of them are great fun to boot.
Take Geometry Wars 2 for example – lots of fun, costs about £7 to buy and there’s 200G-worth of easy points to add to your gamerscore.
Result: around 200G per game
4. Do a ‘weekend blitz’
When I get a new game I occasionally go all out and ‘blitz’ it over the weekend. Stop for meals, stop for sleep, don’t stop for the phone.
Result: 500G – 1,000G
5. Do your research
Find out how to unlock just about anything with a decent tips site such as xbox360achievements.org, achievementhunter.com, gamefaqs.com or failing that – Google!
Result: around 1,000G per game
Get 1,000G in two minutes
If all else fails and you’re in desperate need of an easy gamerscore boost, buy, borrow or rent a game called ‘Avatar: the legend of Aang’ and do the following:
Result: 1,000G

co-op games are pretty good to get some score on like resi 5 and army of two and gears has a glitch to get nearly all the achievements
