It’s here! The biggest game of the year – Modern Warfare 2 – was released at midnight last night, and Leet Games Blog were in the queue.
It was freezing cold, the fog was thick and we were ready for war… here’s some pics from the midnight opening at Basildon’s Gamestation.
We were armed with our pennies (or hundreds of games to trade in Jo’s case!) and ready for the onslaught of the bitter Basildon weather.

After bracing the cold for almost an hour, we finally reached the front. Only to be greeted by this chap:

"If your name's not on the list..."
It was none other than Luke Chappell (wing85), the top gamerscore whore on our friends list with over 50,000 gamerpoints. Don’t worry, he wasn’t stalking us, he just so happens to work at Gamestation in Basildon.
Luckily we had our receipts so there was no trouble with the icy bouncer, and we headed on inside.
After trading a million games in, Jo bought the Modern Warfare 2 special edition Xbox 360 for £10:

When we got home we had a crack on a few multiplayer maps and reached the fourth level of the single-player campaign. Behind enemy lines, we were disguised as a militant, being told to shoot at civilians at an airport… we can see why MPs wouldn’t like this. But still, it’s a game.
Modern Warfare 2 is out now. What do you think of it? Is it really the best game of 2009?
Review to follow…

It was cold..but worth it. Love the special ops part of the game, 2 plater works really well.
Booked a day off work as I’m sure thousands of others did too.
Noticed some server issue last night, some other gamer had said that thier been some problems that had been voiced on some of the various forums?
Overall…good times.
I haven’t had a chance to get on special ops properly yet, but seems cool! Gonna give co-op a crack tonight.
There are PS3 server problems, and a patch is coming next week. But as far as I know the Xbox 360 servers are working fine…
Luke back at Gamestation? Happy days!
[...] after our best games of the 00s, it’s time to put these old dogs to bed and head back to Modern Warfare 2. But they will always be the ones in our hearts. After all, when was the last time you saw a belt [...]
