Smash Bros Brawl UK release

By Dom Sacco | March 23rd, 2008

Smash Bros Brawl – perhaps the finest game made for the Nintendo Wii – has finally been given a UK release date. And it doesn’t look good.

UK gamers will have to wait until Friday 6th June 2008 before they can get their hands on a copy. That’s almost three months after it hit America and half a year later than the Japanese release date.

But good things certainly come to those who wait; the game has already received an average review score of 94% (gamerankings.com) and the new features it has speak volumes.

Apart from a brand new online multiplayer mode, level editor and 35 characters (including Sonic, Solid Snake and Ash from Pokémon), there’s also a new Smash item, which, like the Power Stones from… er, Power Stone, allow your character to unleash a furious, spectatular super smash attack.

Check out the video above to witness a few from Mario, Samus and Bowser.

Some Smash Bros veterans have expressed concern over using the wireless Wiimote to control the action, but worry no more – you can use the Gamecube controller to play Smash Bros Brawl. The gameplay dynamics haven’t been drastically altered, but the speed has risen a notch and attention to detail refined further.

The future certainly looks bright for Smash Bros Brawl. Here’s to many more nights in with mates, playing Smash ’til five in the morning. You know it makes sense.
